Cutlers Hall

The Company of Cutlers has been promoting Sheffield’s manufacturing since 1624! Based at the historic Cutlers’ Hall, the Master Cutler and their team support local makers, engineers and the industries that help them thrive. The Hall is also used for big events like award nights, ceremonies and conferences. It’s a place where tradition meets innovation, and where Sheffield’s proud history of making things continues today.

As a Chef at the Cutlers’ Hall, you would create delicious menus for everything from grand banquets to small special dinners. You would prepare and cook meals for guests at important events like weddings or historic feasts. You would work as part of a kitchen team, sometimes cooking for over 300 people. You would need to be creative, calm under pressure and have a real passion for food.

Sales and Marketing Manager

As a Sales and Marketing Manager, you would help more people discover the amazing events held at Cutlers’ Hall. You would promote weddings, parties, exhibitions and conferences, either by speaking to potential clients or using websites and social media. You would need to be persuasive, friendly and good at explaining why the Cutlers’ Hall is such a special place to visit.

The Beadle

As the Beadle, you would help run the historic Cutlers’ Hall and support the Master Cutler during ceremonies and events. You would make sure everything is well prepared, look after the special rooms and artefacts in the building and take part in traditions that date back hundreds of years. You would need to be organised, proud of Sheffield’s heritage and enjoy being part of formal events.

The Master Cutler

As the Master Cutler, you would be the voice of manufacturing across South Yorkshire. You would represent Sheffield’s famous cutlery and steelmaking history and support local industries today. You would speak at big events, meet important guests and host dinners and ceremonies to celebrate the region’s makers. You would need to be confident, passionate about local industry and ready to lead with pride.

Fun fact: Cutler's Hall's crest features an elephant's head, symbolising the ivory traditionally used for knife handles. It also includes sheaves of arrows and wheat, representing the origin of the name 'Sheffield', which translates to 'the open space by the River Sheaf'.
